The Chuckle Hour by Jeremy Webb

In this comedy, disgraced & fading TV news personality Trent Almond lands a gig hosting TV's longest-running kids show, The Chuckle Hour. It’s his punishment for a very public on-air meltdown. The network can’t fire him thanks to the work of his cunning agent, so the kids show provides the next best thing: obscurity. He is relegated to the basement of the Corporation where a quirky team produce the cult-like weekly hour of bright colours, gigantic alphabets, and adorably addictive puppets.

Chaos and big laughs follow as the long-suffering TV crew have to prepare Almond for his first LIVE kids broadcast. As his life unravels Almond’'s about to become the newest member of The Giggles, an over-the-top, high-energy singing and dancing group that fill The Chuckle Hour with mirth and sugar-sweet silliness. His new cast-mates feel threatened, Almond feels resentment at just how low he’s sunk and all this has to be pushed aside for an hour of live TV every Saturday morning.

A zany mash-up of The Wiggles, Anchorman, and Thirty Rock this show is an expose of TV-land with high doses of farce, heaps of laughter and an acerbic edge.
